WELCOME to the Parish Catechetical Office. Here our task is to provide opportunities for growth in faith and knowledge for everyone in our parish family. Primarily this is done through classes offered for the children of the parish who do not attend parochial school and through events and experiences that involve the entire family. Additionally, we look to provide meaningful retreats, missions, and activities designed for a particular group, need or interest within the parish.
PREP STUDENT CLASSES: Families seeking religious education and sacramental preparation for their children may choose from two (2) options:
SCHOOL YEAR: Classes will be held the first three (3) Sundays of the month (October to May, excluding January), from 9 to 10:20 a.m. at CTC/EEC (former St. Ann School), 2901 New Jersey Ave., Wildwood, followed by attendance at 10:30 Mass, St. Ann Church. Please note additional Diocesan requirements.
SUMMER INTENSIVE CLASSES: Classes are held daily from 8:30 a.m. to noon, the last week of July and the first week of August (ten sessions). Currently, these classes are held at WCHS/CTC building, 1500 Central Ave., North Wildwood. Please note additional Diocesan requirements.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION: Preparation to receive First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and/or Confirmation requires a two-year commitment to PREP classes as well as classes especially designed to strengthen the understanding of the sacraments. Attendance at Retreats, Service Projects and Parent meetings is also required.
PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUMMER INTENSIVE AND YEAR-ROUND STUDENTS:
There will be three (3) class meetings held throughout the year; one in Advent, Lent and Pentecost. Students may select any two (2) of these.
PREP will hold two (2) Family Fests where the entire family will come together to share a meal, have class time, and celebrate prayer. These are required.
Additionally, families will be asked to choose two (2) other faith-filled activities at their convenience (see list of possible events)
All these experiences are considered part of the curriculum and failure to comply risks not being promoted to the next level the following year. Please check the attached calendar for each session/event and prepare now to share these exciting new opportunities to grow in faith.
