Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

RCIA is a program for those interested in becoming members of the Catholic faith or those baptized who never received the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. This program works to instruct and form these people with knowledge of the Catholic Faith over a period of several months.  Culmination of the program will occur on Holy Saturday with the reception of the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.

Adult RCIA classes are set up each year to fit the time and needs of the participants.  The classes average one to two hours weekly.  At the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the seasons of Advent through Lent participants are invited to attend a Breaking Open of the Word and there are other RCIA procedures followed for participants through Lent.  All RCIA candidates are required to attend a Diocesan Mass at which time they are presented to the Bishop for acceptance as one of the “Elect” for that year.
